If you click a link on the forum and it brings you to a site that asks for your user information, don't input anything before you finish reading this:

I have seen a lot of of those Link Phishers recently on here and on other forums and I thought I would make this announcement to make people cautious about "live links" in posts.

First of all, ALL links that you post on the forum must be coded using the code button: or wrapped with tags.

Before clicking on a live link, make sure it directs you to the correct webpage.




How to spot a phishing link:


Phishers are scammers that operate to fool internet uses, like you and me, into beleiving that the website or link they are visiting is genuine, with the intention of scamming that person, by stealing their Credit Card details, , username and password, account information, Rapidshare accounts, Megaupload accounts, e-mail accounts, etc etc................

Now hold your cursor over that link:


http://www.rapidshare.com

now look at your browser status bar (bottom left), can you see that the link points to http://You.HaveJustBeenPhished.com/ instead of the link I gave you above?

This can't happen if you wrap your links with tags. However, scammers can still get around this by protecting their links using anonymisers or link protection sites.

So, always be alert and don't get ecstatic to input your personal details just because the site you are browsing looks like the original one.
